Blog Entry No. 1

From then on, it was a continuous cycle of feeling confused, inspired, then drained.

The cycle of my moods on the first days of quarantine as a student.

I could still vividly remember how I felt during the first few days of quarantine. It was the middle of my second semester in freshmen year when everything turned in to blur. Suddenly, everything was forced to shift online. At one moment, I felt a little relieved that classes were suspended โ€” a typical student thing, I guess. However, deep inside, I know that it will be different, and it was. Everything was suddenly different, so much different in just a snap.

I remember how blankโ€ฆ

No man is powerless, and no man must remain silent. We must make justice prevail through our voices and our actions.

Imagine how many victims have never received justice because no one said a word. Imagine how many lies were known as truths because โ€œwitnessesโ€ continued to be silent. Then after that, imagine you are powerful, that you can stand and you can do something. What would you do as a citizen?

In witnessing uncomfortable situations, most of us would instead run away from the tension. While that may be reasonable, I believe that as citizens, we can do moreโ€ฆ

Broadcast Ready?

Sometimes in life, we tend to feel lost and confused about which path we must take. Most of the time, we are frightened by certain what-ifs: โ€œWhat if I am in the wrong direction? What if there is a dead-end? What if it is not the right destination?โ€ Uncertainties in life bring these unending questions in our heads, and it is normal. However, we can always do something, and that is to search our map in life that will lead us to our desired destination. Here is my roadmap to my future. I must say I feel a little lost, but I am sure that I am on my way!

Journalism Skills (Blog Entry No. 2)

Since I was a kid, I have always looked forward to making unfamiliar things familiar to me. I believe that these things would help me discover myself, particularly my skills.

From poem recitations, dancing, being a student leader, a little bit of debating to writing, I have gathered countless lessons, experienced highs, and lows, and lived through wins and losses. Indeed, I am the type of person who would venture out into different things. Although some may say that constant jumping from one thing to another would not be beneficial, I would have to disagree. Whilst it has its consequencesโ€ฆ

โ€œHave a dream. Have a passion. Know that thereโ€™s no such thing as an overnight success. -Christiane Amanpourโ€

Fuelled with a passion for telling the stories of truth, Christiane Amanpour had always been one of the most remarkable broadcast journalists that I look up to. From an assistant to becoming a leading international correspondence and chief international anchor of CNNโ€™s award-winning global affairs program โ€œAmanpour,โ€ which also airs on PBS, she has shown great dedication to the field. โ€ฆ

As long as you have your thoughts, your will, and your pen, youโ€™re good to go โ€” or so I thought.

Remembering my first days as a campus journalist, I felt ecstatic yet unsure. โ€œAm I ready for this? Am I good enough?โ€ I asked myself. Though I know that I have potential, some things are meant to come unexpectedly.

Unfortunately, surrendering to myths has been a part of my thought process. These became games in my head that continuously challenged my writing. โ€ฆ

A few months ago when everything was โ€œnormalโ€, life has always been better for most of us. It was a few months ago when we still get to choose what we want to do, whether we go to our favorite coffee shop, do our groceries in our local supermarket, meet with people, go to school, go to work or just stay at home and slump all day. Who wouldโ€™ve thought that with just a snap, everything would change? With the twist of events in our life, many have been asking the same question all over again. Many are stuck withโ€ฆ
